First Pokémon GO LIVE Event & Ingress Events to come
Today, Niantic announced its multi-year partnership with the Knight Foundation. This collaboration will be bringing us live community events for Ingress and Pokémon GO, starting with the very first Pokémon GO live event. This partnership will only be in the United States with a focus to “advance civic engagement in local communities around the United States through augmented reality experiences.”
Open Streets 704 Event
Niantic is hosting the first Pokémon GO live event on May 7th in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of the Open Streets 704 event. They have stated this event is experimental and it looks to be styled similarly to Mission Days in Ingress where players explore a city and visit local sites of significance. There will be a route taking you to 16 PokéStops and two Gyms, which the City of Charlotte themselves have selected for this event.
The PokéStops and Gyms will also be physically marked for this event. There currently is no word as to if this event gives a Medal reward like Mission Day for Ingress or any other type of award (such as special Pokémon or caches of items). The timing of the Promo code field in the Shop (for Android) recently emerging might align with this announcement. They do mention, “The initiative will work to enhance these events featuring special content within their augmented reality mobile games, Ingress and Pokémon GO.” This leads me to believe we’ll see some sort of reward via the promos field from live events soon (maybe not during this experimental phase).
Ingress Events?
While Ingress was mentioned in this announcement, details on the events or what to expect were left kind of vague. It’d be a good guess that they may incorporate Mission Day and maybe even anomalies with Knight Foundation / Open Street events. Knight Foundation Medal and Open Streets Missions incoming? Time will tell!

Today Niantic announced Mission Days with GORUCK Scavenger Hunts in Las Vegas, NV on June 10th, 2017 and Knoxville, TN on June 3rd, 2017.
13MAGNUS Reawakens Camping Event (update)
Though the event has been announced for a while now, today Niantic announced some of the characters / actors from Niantic lore will be present at the event! These include: Hank Johnson, Agent Kodamasmiles, and P.A. Chapeau. It is safe to assume bio cards and medal codes for these characters will be included in the swag bag for attending this event.
What is the Knight Foundation?
