How long have you been playing?
Since January 2019. I started playing after I had just moved to Toronto from Boston. In Boston, Pokemon GO players from Team Instinct have a very tight-knit community. In Toronto, the Pokemon GO scene has other priorities. I was looking for a sense of community and decided to try Ingress. Ingress was perfect for making friends all over the world and engaging in collaborative fielding!

What inspired you to submit your piece to the contest?
For a while, I have been making teaser posters for the Toronto First Saturday events; and I really wanted to have my work featured in the scanner. Seeing that traditional art pieces won several of the IFS contests, I felt very inspired! In particular, Dronenet ignited my imagination. I find that to be a very elegant solution to the stay-home predicament. I am delighted to see that more and more in-game events engage the drones.

Is there anything about your artwork you want people to know?
Huge thanks to ENL agents drunkencyclist (Toronto) and Lilmaveric (Northern Ontario) for offering suggestions and encouragement in the process of creating this artwork!

Is there a website where people can see your artwork or other artwork you would like to show?
Website: iourtaeva.com
Instagram: @_inacom_ (art), @KirovDesolator (gamer)

Are there any details you would like to share about your craft?
Although I was initially trained as a digital photographer, my academic work in Book History has shifted my attention to non-digital media. Now, I mostly make mixed media drawings/ paintings on paper. My primary media are markers, pens and pencils. The materiality of the various types of paper and the unique behavior of individual markers provide a rich and organic base for creation. Probably the aspect I enjoy the most is the vibrant neon and metallic colors available to me now! Indeed, my IFS painting employs a lot of metallic markers. For example, the drone includes gold and silver and shines depending on from what angle you look at the painting. At 16 by 11.5 inches, this painting is mid-range for me; otherwise, I work on paper sizes from tiny sketchbooks to A1 paper.

Do you plan to make swag of it?
Yes, biocards. Message me in-game or on Telegram @Kirov_Desolator if you’d be interested to receive some.

Is it ok if agents use your image in their Virtual IFS Group photos?
Sure thing! If you do, please send me a link. I wanna see the results 🙂
