What inspired you to submit your piece to the contest?
In the last months I’ve designed several Biocards for local IngressFS events, and I was involved in a discussion at the Ingress community forum about what else you can give away as a piece of art at those events. So when I heard about an IngressFS artwork competition, there was no doubt that I would participate.
When I had a look at the evaluation criteria and read about “cross-faction”, “physically active” and especially “the desire to explore new places”, I almost instantly had the picture of two astronauts in my head. I guess some of you still know the phrases “Space: The final frontier” and “To boldly go where no man has gone before”, and that’s what has inspired me since the days of my youth.
Is there anything about your artwork you want people to know?
If you haven’t done already take a closer look at the astronauts’ visors. And then you get the meaning of “No Limits”. 😉
Is there a website where people can see your artwork or other artwork you like to show?
Many of Schrammschramm’s artwork contributions to the communities can be found on his instagram page!
Are there any details you would like to share about your craft?
I haven’t had any ambitions to do graphic design until about one and a half years ago. We had the Recursion Prime anomaly in Frankfurt (which is near to the place where I live), and people from the local community were asked to support the different teams. I wanted to make a contribution, and since there wasn’t any other option of interest to me, I joined the design team. Pretty soon I was involved in heavy discussions, and suddenly I realized that I had a lot of fun with this topic. Simultaneously I learned a lot of things from my colleagues about how to work with graphic editors.
So little by little I was able to realize my own ideas. The first big project was to create a logo for my local community and order dozens of clothes and hundreds of pins. At one point I realized that there was one aspect of Ingress Swag that fascinated me the most: Biocards.
I started as a collector (I would say compared to most other collections my treasure chest is medium sized, but compared to some specific collections I’m still an absolute beginner), but soon I created own Biocards for myself, for my team mates, for my team and so on. One of my biggest pleasures is to create cards for fellow agents who desperately wanted to have their own card for many years but just didn’t know how to do that. We always have big fun designing the card together, and we share this happy feeling when the package arrives from printing and the cards just look great.
In 2019 I was mostly occupied with designing cards for IngressFS and of course with creating a picture for the IngressFS artwork competition.
Do you plan to make swag of your image?
I’ve created a 2-pieces Biocard set that might be distributed at some of the events to come.
Did you hear that agents? Soon you may be able to get a piece of this wonderful artwork in hand if you are lucky enough! Thank you Schrammschramm for the amazing artwork you submitted to the competition and for giving us a bit of insight into who you are as an artist in Ingress!
Please be mindful not to use this artwork(s) used in this post without permission. Thank you and we hope you participate in future IFS art competitions!
