How long have you been playing?

Looking at the Niantic profile you would say that I am an old player: actually I downloaded and created the profile in 2012 out of curiosity and abandoned the game immediately for lack of portals and personal imperatives that did not allow me to dedicate the necessary time. I started playing again only in 2017 when I knew that Ingress Animation would be released. I started playing with Redacted but Prime was already “in fieri” so … I’m originally from the Osiris node 100%.

What inspired you to submit your piece to the contest?

I’m a fan of the ingress story and I have to admit that I’ve been missing it a lot lately. I’ve been thinking about how great it was to be able to participate in Tessellation and Nemesis events. I thought it would be nice to have the opportunity to convey the beauty of Lore in an image: now that the exogenous have been banished, and the xm influences human minds exclusively with factional ideologies, I think humanity yearns more and more for exogenous influence.
The image reflects on the one hand our desire for history to continue and, on the other hand, the dangerous allure of the exogenous.

Is there anything about your artwork you want people to know?

This is the first time I’ve participated and I have to say I wasn’t expecting it even though I was hoping for it. I don’t consider myself an artist, perhaps I’m more of an art critic or enhancer. The beauty of our times, though, is that technology and online resources allow anyone to create something new and authentic to convey their message in a form other than written.
In the upper left corner you can see the Tessellation barrier and through it, thin tentacles of the exogenous seek contact with humanity and vice-versa. The lines in the background emphasize the sky-earth direction (metaphor of a link between our dimension and exogenous dimensions) while the glyphs are a reminder of the language used to influence our minds. Let’s say that the beauty and artistry of this image lies in how these details are combined in the ever-present green-blue coloring.

Is there a website where people can see your artwork or other artwork you like to show?

There is no site because this is the first work I create for ingress and the first public one. I’ve created a blog (ingress.home.blog) where I’ve collected and translated in italian (initially with an automatic translation to make it as soon as possible) the articles of the official investigation blog and where I’ve subsequently collected all the intel and videos of the nemesis and tessellation events. Maybe I will start to publish and collect all the works dedicated to ingress in a new section of the site.

Are there any details you would like to share about your craft?

Let’s say that everything starts from a certain sensitivity for art in general: my job is often to enhance and explain art, working closely with artisans and artists who create every day various kinds of pieces (sculptures, mosaics, frescoes, etc..). The creation of a work of art starts with an idea and it is the most important phase before finding the way to realize it and communicate it, and I believe that this was really the fundamental step that brought the work to this result and I believe that it will be so for the next ones I will try.

Do you plan to make swag of it?

I don’t know if I would be able to convert the image into a graphic suitable for a swag, I could try or ask someone for help to do it. Surely it would be nice to become a missions banner, in that case, in my opinion, it would be particularly suitable.

Is it ok if agents use your image in their Virtual IFS Group photos?

Certainly, the image can be used for any non-commercial purpose. I hope it may in turn inspire someone for new compositions and new sharing.

I have to say, as a lore person myself,  i absolutely love the inspiration behind the submission! Thank you so much for submitting and doing this interview. I would love to see banners or possibly a poster of this image!  Agents, if you want the get this media, please participate in a Virtual IFS this weekend and decode your groups passcode! Thank you to Tabineco, who made some templates here for IFS groups to use in Group Photo collages again. May you all have a wonderful IFS Weekend!

Please be mindful not to use this artwork(s) used in this post without permission of the artist outside of group photos for IFS. Thank you and we hope you participate in future IFS art competitions!
