We’re part way through the One Year Anniversary Event and Niantic has announced a Global Challenge that ties into the fast approaching Pokémon GO Fest Chicago live event. This unique challenge allows ALL Trainers to participate in this challenge, even if they cannot attend GO Fest. The Global Challenge has three phases.

Phase 1

There will be three challenge windows for phase 1:

July 22, 11AM-11:30AM CDT

July 22, 12PM-12:30PM CDT

July 22, 3PM-3:30PM CDT

We will be announcing the start of each challenge window on our Twitter.

What

GO Fest attendees will have the opportunity to unlock global bonuses for all Trainers based on the Pokémon types they catch in Grant park during the challenge windows for phase 1. The amount needed to unlock a bonus for a certain Pokémon type isn’t specified, so Trainers at GO Fest may have to coordinate and focus on which bonuses they find most valuable.

Trainers around the world also play a crucial role in phase 1! During the challenge windows, Trainers around the world can catch Pokémon that not only increase the duration for phase 1 bonuses, but also unlocks phase 2!

Bronze: Phase 1 bonus duration increased by 24 hours.

Silver: Phase 1 bonus duration increased by 48 hours.

Gold: Phase 2 Mystery Challenge unlocked!

 

Phase 2

Phase 2 is a Mystery Challenge and is only unlocked if the gold medal is unlocked by global Trainers in phase 1.

As we mentioned, phase 2 is a mystery challenge. All we know is that Trainers at GO Fest will have 1 hour to complete this challenge in Grant Park.

Like Phase 2, Phase 3 has been left vague. All we know is that this is a “major global reward”. We’re super excited to see what this reward may be!
