RECAP
verb
rēˈkap/
1. state again as a summary; recapitulate. “a way of recapping the story so far”.
Stella V has been busy. In between challenges, having many words with Pinstripe and her usual Teachings, she has begun to post what she calls RECAP posts. Each recap looks at one of the 12 Lines and summarizes what information she has shared about that Line as well as trying to give a broad overview of the “essence” of the line. This is an AWESOME way to get a nice overview of the 12 Lines. What is especially important about these posts are the directive Stella gives at the end of each:
“Now, it’s up to you to define the words or phrases that will become the official motto of this line. Put your ideas in the comments below, and I will choose the one I think is the best. If I choose the one you suggest, you will be rewarded. “
These recap posts are not just summarizing what Stella has shared, but serve as a defining point in the Ancient Truths ARG; it is time to pick your Line and to think about what it means to be a member of that Line. Also, Stella is letting the Students of each Line drive how that group is defined. Mottos are important. Ideally, they capture the base essence and meaning of an idea, group, or concept. Involving the players, erm, I mean Students, in the creation process gives a shared ownership. “I did not have some figurehead tell me something, I helped shape it.” Buy-in is so important in a community/social oriented project and is a HUGE factor in retention after the initial “oooh-ahhhh” phase passes. The more involved you are, the more you own something, the more you care about said thing.
Stella has posted recaps for most of the Lines. People are continuing to post thoughts and motto suggestions. There is still time to add your voice. Additionally, if you have not really replied to a post before, Stella’s recaps are a great way to begin. Throw your motto hat into the ring; there is no right or wrong answer, just shared ideas. If you have not selected a Line, this is a great the time to choose. Jump in and have a say how that Line will flow rather than having it handed to you at some later point.
