The Niantic Investigation-April 2016 Status Update
Hello there and welcome back to Fev Games as we explore the Niantic Investigation in 2016.
So what’s the most important thing or things that you need to know in order to jump in?
Well, following the Obsidian Anomalies, the world of Ingress faced an XM Drought. Unlike the Portal Virus that Devra Bogdanovich unleashed during the Helios Anomalies, which interfered with Resonators and natural Portal decay over time, this particular backlash of the Obsidian Shield tampered with a Portal’s ability to naturally produce XM back into the world. Almost immediately, actions were taken to provide temporary relief and as a search was initiated for a cure to the situation.
Oliver Lynton-Wolfe had spoken to the Acolyte, claiming of a way to release a stockpile of Power Cubes hidden within the Network to provide relief to Agents-but that he would also need ADA’s help in doing so.
Lynton-Wolfe’s efforts to combat the Drought reached new levels when he publicly announced the #GlobalPortalSurvey: A massive, worldwide mission to study ‘the interaction between Shaper Glyphs and Portals. It is my hope that the data we gather will shed light on how the Obsidian Shield has caused the XM drought and thus find a cure.‘
From April 16th-21st, Agents were tasked with submitting photos of specific Portals across the planet. Lynton-Wolfe provided the necessary Glyphs.
Around the same time, a group of Agents took on their own similar study, titled Operación Excalibur, which was to ‘create Glyphs around specific Portals (towers in this case, sites previously associated with Anti-Magnus activities).’
Both of these global initiatives have become successes, with Lynton-Wolfe providing thanks to all who participated.
Things however began to take a rather violent turn as news broke of an attack on the Enlightened Compound by unknown forces. After the chaos, Oliver disappeared. Whether he did so of his own accord or if he was kidnapped by the attackers remains to be seen.
The XM Drought continues…
Serious investigators dig deeper. Seeking the truth, no matter where it may lead, is our calling. Faction, race, gender, age – none of these things matter here.
