Week 21- Challenge 5 – In Circles

Challenge page : http://www.ancientsocieties.com/in-circles/

The challenge text says Read down.

We have an image of a sort of metallic surface with 11 groups of numbers.
in-circles_numbers
These numbers are :
63-81
99-117
99-117
99-117
351-9
351-9
297-315
63-81
27-45
99-117
P 63-81

The last one has a P, we will get back to this later.

The difference between the numbers is always 18 : 117-99 = 315-297 = 81-63 = 45-27 and if we consider 351-9 as angles, the difference is also 18, 18°.

If we have a closer look to the numbers and circles

…We can see that some little filled circles are oriented in the same direction as the angles we got before, confirming we are on the correct track.

Here is a global view :

When placing the angles on a circle, we can see sectors and if we generalize this process, we will get 20 sectors of 18° (20*18=360).
We can think about a dartboard since it has 20 sectors.

Reading the numbers in the dartboard from 63-81 to the bottom P 63-81, we get :
1 5 5 5 6 6 2 1 4 5 P1

The P at the bottom of the document + the emphasized READ in the challenge text make us think about a book page.

The 10 first numbers are an ISBN code (http://www.isbnsearch.org/) for the book Women of Consequence: The Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame

Searching that book on Google Books : http://books.google.fr/books?id=ER_kf0pWJZUC will give us the solution, as the page one (P1) is dedicated to a certain Clara Brown a philanthropist, which is the theme of the week.

The solution is clarabrown

The solution page is http://stl.la/clarabrown, this page is redirected to http://www.ancientsocieties.com/vyctory-vandalized/
